DBT

DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) was developed by Marsha Lineham at the University of Washington in Seattle. It uses evidence and skills based approaches in individual and group therapy. It is especially effective with clients struggling with depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, self-harming and other issues of regulating their emotions.

The four modules of DBT skills are:

  • Mindfulness
  • Distress Tolerance
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness
  • Emotional Regulation
